The Financial Crisis: Regulatory and Corporate Governance Critiques and Reforms

The University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law will hold a symposium tomorrow, Friday, September 25, 2009, that will explore the current state of the economy and examine the financial crisis one year after it landed like a financial “tsunami” (Alan Greenspan’s word). This symposium will explore the root causes of the crisis and will examine the Obama administration responses to it. In addition, panelists will discuss the proposed regulations being considered currently by congress to assess whether appropriate steps are being taken to stave off a similar debacle in the future. one of the key discussions that will take place will focus on diversity in the corporate boardroom.
